Utah's All American Road

The Federal Highway Adminstration has designated Scenic Byway 12 as an All American Road. To qualify for such an honor, All American Roads have such unique features and so exceptional that they are a destination themselves; such is Scenic Byway 12.

The 124 mile route travels through the Dixie National Forest, Utah's largest national forest. Among the many breath taking views is Escalante Mountain on the Aquarius Plateau, the highest plateau in North America, rising 11,328 feet and is seen along much of Byway 12. Many state parks are also located in Bryce Canyon Country, see the unique rock formations of "Chimney Rock" and "Grosvenor Arch" located in Kodachrome Basin, explore the Escalante Petrified Forest, which showcases petrified wood and fossilized dinosaur bones; step back in time to 1050 AD when the Fremont and the Kayenta Anasazi occupied the area at the Anasazi State Park.

Named after the Mormon pioneer Ebenezer Bryce, Bryce Canyon National Park is the crowning jewel of Bryce Canyon Country. Known for its amazing and impressive rock formations called "Hoodoos", and its spectacular night sky for star gazing, the 37-mile round trip is a must see.

These and many other wonders are on display in Bryce Canyon Country.
Discover the scenic beauty, culture, archaeology and recreatonal opportunities traveling Scenic Byway 12.
